The next evolution: the 303 NSW wheels by Zipp
The pursuit of AeroBalance™ defines Zipp’s approach to wheel design. Combining low drag performance with stable handling is their mission, because speed without control, is useless. To that end, the new NSW rim-brake wheels feature an entirely redesigned rim shape that aerodynamically integrates wider tubeless tires into the design of the most popular NSW wheels.
The NSW Carbon Clinchers now feature a 19 mm internal rim width and corresponding outer rim shape for aerodynamic optimization with 25 mm tyres. Not only are the latest versions of these wheels aerodynamically faster and more stable over a wide range of wind yaw angles than ever before—they gain even more speed thanks to the lower rolling resistance, smoother ride, improved grip, and reduced risk of flats offered by wider tubeless tyres. The tubeless rims also feature internal ridges to lock the tyre’s bead in place for secure performance over rough roads.

NSW
The Zipp NSW Series is a science, a philosophy and a mission to engineer the fastest, most stable and highest performance cycling components ever realized.Within the NSW Series, Zipp will develop and refine halo-level products with our most advanced technologies on an ongoing basis. The focus is on transforming innovative ideas into tangible gains in speed. NSW – for Nest Speed Weaponry – comes from the nickname “The Nest” Zipp engineers gave to the windowless, high-security advanceddevelopment lab in the corner of the Zipp factory. It’s where only the best fledgling ideas fly.
ImPress™
Zipp has employed Zipp’s ImPress™ graphics technology, which prints graphics directly on the wheel, to help allow the dimples to do what they were designed to do – help control vortex shedding, the rate at which air sheds off the wheel. Managing this is crucial to stability. ImPress graphics also give NSW a distinctive stealthy look.
Showstopper™
Zipp’s industry leading silicon carbide Showstopper™ brake track continues to evolve and improve, providing unmatched stopping power and modulation regardless of weather conditions or the length of the descent.
SawTooth™
This patented rim shape achieves something conventional aero wheels cannot; it simultaneously reduces both aerodynamic drag and side force for the ultimate in AeroBalance™. SawTooth™ accomplishes this with ABLC dimples for improved airflow. The result is both aero-drag reduction and reduced side force at all wind yaw angles. This is important because higher wind yaw angles are where bike handling is most affected by the wind.
