The original mountain bike group continues its legacy of remaining the standard for mountain bikers everywhere. Nearly three decades in, the DEORE XT brand is defined by its trail-tested durability, reliability and performance. Recognizing that today’s mountain bikers are riding faster and confidently on more technical terrain, the legacy of DEORE XT is more important than ever. In 2019, our pinnacle mountain bike technologies will trickle down to SHIMANO DEORE XT M8100.

Shimano XT FC-M8120-1 12-speed Crank

The Shimano XT FC-M8120 1×12-speed crank with 178 mm Q-factor, 55 mm chainline and 148 mm O.L.D stands for highest drive efficiency at low weight. It offers optimum power transmission and maximum speed for the new XT system, which only use 1 chainring. In addition to a new special 12-speed chain (CN-M8100) with the corresponding new 12-speed QUICK LINK lock, SHIMANO is also equipping the XT M8100 with new cranksets for 12-speed (FC-M8100/8120/8130-1). Most of them use 1-speed systems and a wide range of chainrings (28T to 36T) is available.

The new XT 1×12-speed cranks are characterised by DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ technology, whose special high-precision tooth profile ensures that the chain finds optimum grip on the upper part of the chainring on rough terrain, but detaches equally well from the chainring at the bottom, thus ensuring efficiency, smoothness and low noise of the drive. The cranks are equipped with a direct-mount system for quick and safe assembly of the chainrings, enabling chainrings to be changed in no time at all. The crank is available in boost and non-boost specifications.

The Shimano XT SL-M8100-I 12-speed Rapidfire Plus shift lever with new I-Spec EV construction features a lightweight, ergonomic and compact design. In addition to the shifting behavior, the performance also increases. With 20 % quicker lever access time and 35 % less force. Enhancing lever access and shifting speed, the new RAPIDFIRE PLUS shift levers offer light operation force and more versatility. The Shimano XT RD-M8100 1×12-speed rear derailleur features an elegant yet aggressive angled design and an attractive anodised aluminium surface. The derailleurs feature bigger 13-tooth pulleys and include Shimano’s proven Shadow RD+ low profile technology. The use of a single or a double system requires the installation of the specific single or double rear derailleur (1×12: RD-M8100-SGS / 2×12: RD-M8120-SGS).

The rigidity of the crankset ensures pedaling efficiency while its weight, a key element of the crankset, you want light, aids in cycling longer distances over which the rider needs to pedal more. Naturally, SHIMANO strove for the optimum balance between the conflicting needs of stiffness while producing a lightweight crank. HOLLOWTECH technology is an ultra-lightweight hollow crankarm created by SHIMANO with the company’s own proprietary forging technology that also maintains rigidity. The addition of HOLLOWTECH II technology integrates the bottom bracket axle with the right crankarm for more stiffness and a weight savings to achieve a high-dimensional balance. Ice-Tech FREEZA
SHIMANO’s ICE TECHNOLOGIES has realized the ultimate clad rotor, incorporating aluminum fins for enhanced heat control. With an increased surface area for heat dispersion, the rotor achieves a 50°C reduction in heat. This in turn generates a 20% increase in braking force durability and a 20% longer pad life.

Center-Lock System
The CENTER LOCK system makes an easy rotor installation possible with spline mount and a lock ring. The lock ring mounting system reduces the total working hours by shortening the amount of time of both installation and de-installation. In addition, the secure fixing by the spline mount enhances precision and rigidity while improving braking efficiency.
